In order for your baby to be able to sleep in a relaxed and healthy position in its hammock, it needs a high-quality mattress. We have polyester, sheep's wool and kapok mattresses. All three types are characterised by very specific properties and advantages.

The polyester mattress

A baby mattress with polyester filling offers your baby a high level of comfort and is neither too soft nor too hard. With it, your baby will feel like he or she is sleeping on clouds! But what kind of material is it?

Polyester is a synthetic fibre that has played a major role in textile production for many years. We find it in T-shirts, sportswear, but also in bed linen. No wonder: the fibre is extremely skin-friendly and kind to the skin, but at the same time very durable, dimensionally stable and easy to care for. Despite its impressive durability, it has only a low dead weight. On the skin, polyester feels wonderfully soft and fine. Another great advantage is that the fibre can absorb moisture, supports air circulation and is thus breathable. This prevents your baby from sweating excessively and makes him or her feel completely comfortable. A polyester mattress is an excellent and affordable choice.

The kapok mattress

Kapok is a natural fibre that was forgotten for some time, but is now making a comeback in the mattress segment.

And that is a good thing, because the "plant down" (as it is commonly known) has many advantages. Kapok is a very fluffy and voluminous fibre obtained from the seeds of the tropical kapok tree, a mighty tree that can grow up to 75 metres high and live for over 500 years. Because kapok fibres are hollow on the inside, they are considered the lightest natural textile fibres in the world. Their properties are remarkable: kapok is surrounded by a natural wax layer and thus cannot absorb water. Instead, the fibre transfers moisture and thus helps regulate the sleeping climate. So in winter your baby enjoys a warm cosy feeling, while in summer, when temperatures are high, it lies comfortably cool. If you value sustainability, kapok is also the right choice for you, because the tree is ideally suited for reforestation in the rainforest.

The sheep's wool mattress

Like kapok fibre, sheep's wool has some amazing properties. It is obtained by shearing sheep, but the animals are not harmed in the process. For the sheep, their wool is like a kind of ""functional clothing"" that protects them from heat in summer and cold in winter. A sheep's wool mattress also offers this temperature-balancing effect, which means that your little one enjoys a perfect sleeping climate all year round. Any moisture is absorbed and released to the outside.

In addition, sheep's wool has odour-inhibiting properties, because it removes fungi and bacteria from the breeding ground and neutralises acids. Occasional airing is therefore sufficient for a sheep's wool mattress, especially as any dirt is automatically transported to the surface by the natural capillary effect when shaking it out. By the way, you should not wash your sheep's wool mattress: then the lanolin, i.e. the natural wool fat, would be rinsed out of the fibre and it would lose its good properties.
